advice from Derek!

Book signing and release party in honor of Derek Blasberg’s new book, Very Classy..Even More Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady. ¬†Amazing party hosted by a couple of pretty chic women here in Savannah, along with the gals from Moda Operandi. If your not familiar with that website nor a member, you should be. And if you consider yourself a proper lady, you had better get a copy of Derek’s book to make sure you have all your T’s crossed and your I’s dotted in that department.

Hoggin in NYC!

Luckily and ironically I was in NYC for another Whole Hog Cookbook release party! In Chelsea at this very chic apartment with a pretty swank view, all so Libbie Summers. Had a great time meeting all the NYC Rizzoli people involved and having some Savannah familiar faces near!

Me being a giant…also, in my vintage sweater find that day in Soho at What Goes Around Comes Around.¬†

terminal wine…

NYC madness for 9 days this past week, makes me a slacker on posts! Playing catch up here… THE only music outing I made while I was there (shocking, I know) was Iron & Wine. My buddies Elliot and Stuart play in the horn section, they played at Terminal 5 both Wednesday and Thursday nights. I made the Thursday show! I love this venue and the show was pretty great as well… playing a second night same gig sometimes I assume the band will be so over it….you definitely couldn’t tell it if they were.

sam me elliot. my horn blowing buddies, Elliot and Stuart here.

Nash’vegas

This past weekend in Nashville…. involved a lotta music, old and new friends,¬† and a growing desire to move there! whew.

Friday night… Autumn Defense @ Family Wash.¬† Pat and John from Wilco (Glenn even sat in on drums),¬† their side project played an intimate set at this teeny cool little place the night before their 2 night gigs at the Ryman!

Saturday night WILCO @ the Ryman, my favorite venue in all of the United States!

Chris and Chris.

Backstage familiar Oxford, MS faces with John.

Me, Ally in an empty Ryman. No trip to Nashville is complete with out a trip to Roberts Western World downtown! We just happen to be there for the live Radio broadcasting of a rare show from Wanda Jackson. Known as the Queen of Rockabilly from the 50’s and 60’s! She’s 73, and Jack White just produced her last album. She was amazing!!! What a treat!

some western wear.

Owner of Roberts and that fantastic Cadillac. The car Wanda rolled up in!

Tipped the night off with friends to see the Honeymoon Thrillers (you know those talented Barlowe boys I’ve mentioned before) at a private show at 12th & Porter.

whole lotta pigs….

The Whole Hog cookbook is finally out on shelves! ¬†Already in it’s second printing before it was even released. Don’t judge when I say cookbook, I’m not talking about an ordinary boring ass cookbook… this is a stylish, chic, witty little book of personal stories from Libbie herself, amazing photography, fashion and yes… recipes! The brainchild of my amazing friend and food stylist Libbie Summers, the book represents Libbie’s appreciation to “not wasting nothin involving cooking a pig”! I was fortunate enough to work on the book styling Libbie, which wasn’t that hard because she’s one of the stylish and coolest gals I know. We had a screaming blast shooting, on location at a real live pig farm in South Carolina and also at Paula’s house y’all! Who doesn’t like fashion and bacon!!? Go buy it.. You’ll fall in love with Libbie’s raw and humorous take on cooking all things pig! It’s a Rizzoli International publication, so you can pretty much find it anywhere you buy books and coffee at the same time.

The Whole Hog Cookbook release party on Wednesday night!! Hosted by Rethink Design Studio @ Meddin Studios. Paying some homage to all things pork!
